Emma’s Preschool Christmas Program

Posted by danaandtammy on Thursday Dec 24, 2009 Under Holidays, Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs, Special Events

Emma had her second Preschool program. Everyone seemed to be more comfortable up in front of the crowd.

Everyone did a nice job singing and doing the hand motions.

The video has the news of the day.

The other people in the video are our Singaporean friends that we met in Viet Nam, who are now in St. Louis working on a graduate degree. They came up for a short visit and were able to be here for Kenny’s first steps.

Santa

Posted by danaandtammy on Friday Dec 18, 2009 Under Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs

Kenny and Emma got to share with Santa what they want for Christmas. As you can tell, the real Santa actually spends the last few weeks before Christmas here in Eau Claire.  Kenny wasn’t frightened of Santa, but he was a little uncertain. Emma loved her time on his lap. For Emma that has not always been the case.

Here Kenny is really just checking him out.

Last year Kenny was a little smaller. If you look really closely though, Emma and Kenny had the same matching pants last year as they have this year. Grandma Fish makes them pants out of the same material every year.

Disney Princess on Ice

Posted by danaandtammy on Friday Dec 18, 2009 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Last weekend Tammy and Emma went to Disney Princess on Ice. The two ladies joined up with Tara and Landry Ternberg as well as Nancy and Zea Ternberg. They all had lots of fun.

The girls were excited to get there.

Here are the three little princesses, Emma, Zea, and Landry.

The costumes where very nice, and for each of the princesses a scene was reenacted on ice.

The sets where also quite extravagant.

First Big Snow

Posted by danaandtammy on Wednesday Dec 9, 2009 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

We got some snow back in October, but today was our first big one. It was big enough that school was even closed. We are currently waiting to borrow Papa Swany’s snowblower, but Emma and I were out to do a little shoveling and to play a little bit in the snow.

Christmas Wishes for All

Posted by danaandtammy on Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 Under Holidays, Special Events

Here is our Christmas Card.

Merry Christmas!

Swanstrom Christmas Card 2009 Blog

Merry Christmas Friends and Family,

Although this year is not what we had dreamed of, it has been a year of God’s faithfulness amongst many uncertainties with Kenny’s health.  For those of you who don’t know, Kenny was diagnosed in April with a rare brain defect called “closed-lip schizencephy.” This basically means there is a crevice in his brain.  While the prognosis is uncertain, it currently only affects the movements of his left arm.  We celebrate the miracles that continue to happen – his crawling, pulling up, and he is so close to walking! Besides the medical issues Kenny has a smile that is contagious and he loves his big sister to pieces.  His favorite activities are exploring, and playing with his sister’s stuff.

Emma turns 4 in January and enjoys her new preschool.  She loves doing art, reading, math, and anything princess.  The highlights of her week are her gymnastic and ballet classes.

Lots of other things have happened this year. To read about them and to keep up with our latest adventures visit our blog at www.swanstromphotography.com/ourfamilyblog/.

Love,

Dana, Tammy, Emma, and Kenny

Christmas Downtown Eau Claire

Posted by danaandtammy on Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 Under Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs

Emma and her friend Jack spent last Saturday with their mom’s in downtown Eau Claire. The city put on a Christmas event that included pictures with Santa, horse drawn wagon rides, and crafts at the public library. It was a little cold, but everyone dressed warm. It was bunches of fun.

Gingerbread House

Posted by danaandtammy on Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 Under Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs

Emma, her mom, and her dad spent some time putting together a gingerbread house. It came as a kit, which made things pretty easy. It still was a messy experience though.

Christmas Tree Cutting

Posted by danaandtammy on Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 Under Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs

The day after Thanksgiving we headed to our local tree farm to cut down a Christmas tree. The actually cutting part was a struggle as we ended up with a dull saw, but the picture taking was short and sweet. Our photographer friend Jen Schultz took our picture once again this year. You can check out more of her awesome work at www.genesisphotographyonline.com/.

Thanksgiving at the Maloneys

Posted by danaandtammy on Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 Under Holidays, Photographs, Special Events

As is tradition, Thanksgiving was celebrated at the Maloney’s. All of Dana’s side of the family was there, minus Uncle Ryan who had to work part of the day so he came after the meal. A family friend Anona was also present. Though this was Kenny’s 2nd Thanksgiving, this was the first year he actually got to eat the food directly.

Kenny’s First Haircut

Posted by danaandtammy on Monday Dec 7, 2009 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Kenny got his first haircut just before Thanksgiving. He didn’t get a lot cut off, just enough to keep it out of his eyes and to keep it off his neck. In order to keep him happy we let him text his friends.

Here Kenny is checking out the new haircut in the mirror. He seems to like it.
