Memorial Day

Memorial Day in Eau Claire means a parade. Papa Swany (who was drafted during the Viet Nam War and served in Oklahoma joined us). The last picture is of cousin Carter who actually walked in the parade handing out Express Baseball schedules. Mom and Emma were in the cities getting Uncle Joe from the airport.

Water Fun with Cousin Norah

Posted by danaandtammy on Friday May 28, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Cousin Norah has been visiting for a few days. It has been pretty warm so water fun as been quite common.

Our indoor waterpark was the first water stop.

Norah enjoyed the water.

She also looked pretty cute in a swimsuit that Emma wore.

Kenny and Norah tried to play with the water without letting it spray them in their faces.

Emma is pretting daring at our homemade waterpark in our back yard.

The water wasn’t very warm.

Kenny and Norah just hung out. They didn’t try the slide.

After lots of fun outside the kids did need a bath.

End of the Year Preschool Picnic

Posted by danaandtammy on Thursday May 27, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs, Special Events

Emma’s preschool had its end of the year picnic. It had a lot of fun activities and games. In addition, cousin Landry graduated from preschool and will be going to kindergarten next year.

A little fishing game with some pretty nice prizes. We ended up with two squirt guns and some other stuff.

Big bubbles are always a hit.

The younger grades did some singing before the graduation ceremonies.

Landry is all set for the diploma ceremony.

Emma finished her first year of preschool. Here are some shots from her last day of school with a corresponding first day of school picture also.

All set for the last day of school.

All set and eager for the first day of school.

Enjoying some time with the little brother.

Last minute time with brother before heading off to school for the first time.

Our Family Calls it Dot Paint

Posted by danaandtammy on Wednesday May 26, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Both Emma and Kenny enjoy art projects and one product that has been fun for both of them is dot paint.

Painting paper and faces is fun, fun, fun.

Hot Day

Posted by danaandtammy on Monday May 24, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

On May 24 we set a new record high temperature for Eau Claire when the thermometer registers 93 hot and humid degrees. These shots were taken at 7:20 pm, but it was still in the high 80s. After a little swim they ate a little pizza and chips outside and had something to drink.

By the way, the plate was purposely used to keep these pictures PG rated.

Swimming in the Front Yard

Posted by danaandtammy on Wednesday May 19, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Emma (and technically Kenny) got a new pool for the summer.

We got a nice posed picture.

But Kenny doesn’t enjoy cold water.

The girls played an interesting game that involved pretending that the castle part was a seat belt in a car.

The girls didn’t seem to notice how cold the water was.

Serve Rally at Jacob’s Well

Posted by danaandtammy on Saturday May 15, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs, Special Events

Our church had a little event to celebrate serving. There were lots of things for the kids and it was a beautiful evening.

There was a great wide open bouncy area that the kids had a lot of fun on.

Kenny fell as much as he walked, but that didn’t matter.

The main game was to run back and forth. Simple but lots of fun.

Three friends having fun. Doesn’t get much better.

Jack and Emma always have so much fun together.

Emma tired a little, but she didn’t rest for long.

Kenny and his friend Ty had lots of fun. They both got a little dirty eating though.

Preschool Fieldtrip to Klinger Farm

Posted by danaandtammy on Thursday May 13, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

Emma’s preschool visited the Klinger Farm. We have some great friends in Germany named Klinger, but the farm that is in their family would be a little to far away. This Klinger Farm Market that the preschoolers went to is quite close in Chippewa Falls and is a plant nursery.

A little waiting in line. All part of the life of a preschooler.

It was a cool raining day as you can see from the clothing choices of the kids.

Mom got a little sore carrying Kenny, but Kenny likes to ride back there.

Mother’s Day

Posted by danaandtammy on Sunday May 9, 2010 Under Holidays, Kid Pictures, Photographs, Uncategorized

The Swanstrom’s celebrated Mother’s Day up on Lake Wissota. It was a beautiful day outside and we all had a lot of fun. Tammy was recovering from a cold, so she wasn’t feeling the best, but she still was blessed to spend the time with her great kids.

Kenny did not want to just sit for a picture. He wanted to play. For anyone who has held a toddler who doesn’t want to sit, Kenny is just starting the move used by any child–straighten those legs and arch the back and then just slip out of the lap.

Here Kenny is just trying to crawl away. Emma is also interested in doing something else than take pictures and she is letting us know oh so subtly.

This was the best of the three of them. Two smiles out of three isn’t bad.

Don’t know the problem with the little one in the middle, but once again two smiles out of three isn’t bad.

The shirt that Tammy is wearing was painted by Emma for Mother’s Day. It turned out very nice.

Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild’s Fairy Tale Ball

Posted by danaandtammy on Friday May 7, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs, Special Events

As a fundraiser the local theatre guild held a Fairy Tale Ball. Emma and cousin Landry got all dressed up as princesses for the event.

The local Hair Academy (beautician school) styles hair at a reasonable price, so the day started with hair.

Cousin Landry got an “up-do”.

Now off to home to get on their dresses.

Here is the crew that went to the ball. This was a great photograph and was taken by cousin Avery.

The two girls were very excited even though none of us knew exactly what to expect.

Tammy found a clearanced bridesmaid dress that made her look like a princess too.

When we arrived it was raining and cold, so we didn’t know if we would be able to go on a carriage ride, so the girls hopped up into the carriage for a picture.

Since the event was held by the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild, they put on some little shows.

Carriage rides did happen, so we got all bundled up and took a ride around the parking lot.

Cindrella’s step-sisters and step-mother mingled with the crowd.

A local dentist, I mean the tooth fairy , was giving rides on the magic chair. If you see Emma you can ask her what the magic words were to make it go up and down. At the end of the night Emma mentioned that this was one of her favorite things that she did.

The girls did a little crown decorating.

The night ended with a dance.

Flowering Crabapple Tree

Posted by danaandtammy on Monday May 3, 2010 Under Kid Pictures, Photographs

At our old house on Emery Street, Grandma and Grandpa Swany bought some trees for our backyard. One of the trees was a beautiful flowering crabapple tree. Before putting our old house on the market, we dug up the tree and brought it to our new house. It recently bloomed so here are some current pictures and one from a few years ago.

This was taken May 18, 2008 in the backyard of our old house.

The tree did tickle her a little bit, but we did get her to go under it and she added the nice smile. These were all taken May 3, 2010.

Kenny didn’t want to stand under the tree, but we did get him to sit.

Weighing less than 30 lbs and wearing a diaper make it possible to sit on pointy rocks and still smile.

It was a little chilly so Emma got on her coat. The coat matches her glasses so well that it fits right in.
