Our second big event of Spring Break was to head to the Chaos Indoor Water Park here in Eau Claire. We joined up with Jack and Ty for the festivities. Everyone had a lot of fun, and Emma really liked going on the big tube slide.
We got everyone to look at the camera.
Once Jack pretended to be Superman though, Kenny lost his focus.
This year we decided not to go any where far away for spring break. It wasn’t that long ago that we went to Disneyland. We did want to do a few fun things, so the first thing was to take Emma and cousin Landry to the Mall of America. Every Tuesday of the year is Toddler Tuesday. The two girls had lots of fun. We are sure that Kenny had fun too back in Eau Claire with Mama and Papa Swany.
After going on the ghost shooting ride, we went over to the Merry-go-Round.
Emma and Landry went on the bouncy drop ride.
Daddy got to ride on the Diego Safari Bus.
The Blues Clues ride wasn’t very exciting, but they still liked it.
They both liked the truck driving ride, but Landry really liked it.
Landry even wanted to go on it again by herself. Maybe truck driving is in Landry’s future.
A recent addition to the Mall of America is their butterfly house.
Only daddy held a butterfly though. One landed on Emma and it freaked her out a little bit.
We ended the day at the Underwater Adventure part of the Mall of America. The girls really enjoyed looking at all the fish and the turtles. We were on constant look out for the next type of fish though.
Last year we colored eggs up at Dayle and Jeannine’s house. We did the same this year also.
After a little soak, it was time to get the eggs out.
Most of the time the eggs made it out just fine, but that yellow one is just about to hit the table after flipping off of the egg holder. It did crack a little.
Emma is using a candle to put some wax on the egg. Where ever you put wax stays white.
This is one that had some wax on it.
Kenny didn’t do any egg coloring, but he did eat strawberries.
Here is the line up.
The one in Emma’s hand is the one that got cracked. It still turned out nice though.
Emma and Jeannine really enjoyed the egg coloring.
It was really nice outside so we spent a little time out on the deck after coloring the eggs.
Kenny liked to go in an out of the house through the sliding door.
What a fun day!
There is a farm in Menomonie that has figured out that if you open up to the public to come and see your baby animals, that people will come and will even pay for it. We met up with some friends and spent a couple hours on a farm that amazingly was so busy with people that their might have been more people than animals.
Emma and Jack went to the craft store Michael’s for a little craft work with some special clay. Emma made a flower and Jack made a dinosaur that soon turned into a cell phone and then into a square.
We checked out the horses and mules first.
Then inside the barn (at a cost of $5 a person) to see the goats.
Next a lamb.
It took a little while to convince Emma to hold the lamb, but once she did she was hooked.
Kenny left but Emma kept holding the lamb.
Some little chicks needed some tender touches.
Emma dropped only one chick, but there were no injuries as a result.
Kenny never held a chick, which was good news for the chicks.
We ended the trip with a little wagon ride pulled by some horses.
Here is one more of Emma and Jack after a fun day together.
Papa and Mama Fish where over for a quick visit. As soon as they arrived it was off to the Lake Altoona Park.
The young ones with smiles as they hit the first slide.
Kenny really likes slides. He technically doesn’t care if anyone catches him, but Grandma Fish knows it is a good idea.
Emma’s gymnastics training has helped with balance. This beam is a little low compared to the one in her class.
Emma has gotten a lot of compliements on how her glasses match her purple coat.
I wasn’t there, but I’m guessing that she was saying “Giddy Up Doggy, Giddy Up Doggy.”
Cousin Avery turned 11 on St. Patrick’s Day. The birthday party was a few days later, but we were there to celebrate with all of the relatives.
For present opening, the younger girls in the family just looked on. The probably all wished that it was their birthday too.
One of the highlights for Avery was her own computer. I would have been just as pumped.
A Coldstone Ice Cream cake was the dessert of choice. Avery would make a good Rudolf.
Kenny caused a lot of trouble so we did keep him locked up in the sunroom for most of the night. Just kidding. He did like it out there though. Here he is doing a little piggy impersonation.
After being freed from his lock up Kenny did a little relaxing on his Papa Swany’s lap.
And a little nose picking also.
For St. Patrick’s Day (which is also cousin Avery’s birthday) our family went to downtown Eau Claire for the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade. We now know that Eau Claire must not have a very large population of Irish as the parade ended up being a quite small walking sidewalk parade with a route of one city block. It still was fun and the weather was great.
We did all wear green though there is no Irish blood in our veins that we know of. The kids enjoyed the small little parade even if it didn’t meet their parent’s expectations. The only disappointment for them was that no candy was thrown.
Since it has gotten warm out Kenny has discovered the little snow shovel that we own. He watched me shovel in the winter, so he knows just what to do (more or less).
Hope he doesn’t try this when he is older and is actually shoveling snow.
He was coming right at me. I got out of the way of the shovel just in time.
Walking on the grass is a new experience for Kenny. He has caught on quickly though.
Kenny decided to take a break after all the shoveling.
As I mentioned in the previous post it got quite warm, so after church we were back outside. We were going to do some bike riding, but Emma’s helmet had shrunk over the winter. Kenny saw the bike though and it caught his attention.
Kenny really wanted to ride Emma’s big bike. He could just barely get over the bar though.
Kenny has his own bike that he is borrowing from Grandma Fish.
He can scoot around on it pretty well.
And this bike fits him just perfectly.
Here in Wisconsin, there is always that first day of the year where enough snow has melted to go outside and play. After a week of warm temperatures and rain, the sun was out this morning just calling us to do a little playing outside before church. The temperature was only in the upper 30s, but the sun was nice and warm. The temperature did get up to 57 before the day was done.
It was a little cold and Kenny was ready to get out of the swing.
Emma was excited to hang upside down again.
Emma loves to go high on the swing. We do lots of underdogs.
The local orchestra holds a little fundraising carnival each year. This year was the first that we have attended. Kenny was along for the trip, but he wasn’t feeling quite himself so we held him most of the time. Emma sure enjoyed herself.
First on the activities was to have Emma’s nails painted.
She then got her hair braided and colored blue.
Lastely she got a little face painting done. In all it was quite a bit fun for her. Kenny will probably have more fun next year.
A few days ago Landry showed Emma her new baker’s outfit. Emma really liked it and Landry even let her borrow it. Emma currently has a sticker chart for wearing her glasses, so when she got it filled in she wanted to get a baker’s outfit just like her cousin. Landry was soon over for a visit and the two of them got all dressed up and started some baking.
Emma and Landry sure have become good friends. They really do a nice job playing together.
In the downstairs bakery Landry baked a pumpkin pie and Emma baked a birthday cake.
