With such a warm winter day in Wisconsin it was the perfect day for you guys to try out your new snowboards from Christmas. Grandpa and Grandma Fish really have the ideal land for it at their house in Red Wing. You both really seemed to get the hang of it quickly.
Kenny – You got pretty tired out after a couple runs but as a kid with mild cerebral palsy you were AMAZING! We are so proud of your hard work and determination.
You might have fallen asleep if we stayed much longer!
Here is a video we posted on You-Tube from the day.
For the last few years our New Years Day tradition has been to go to the Mall of America in Minneapolis. American Girl always has extra special activities and giveaways in celebration of their new doll of the year. You couldn’t be more thrilled with this year’s – Grace Thomas – who loves Paris and baking. Two of your favorite things!
This doll bakery is amazing! I love that you have started saving.
They even had cookie decorating and little luggage tags for the kids and dolls.
Today you used your Christmas money to get Grace and are “trying” to wait patiently for your birthday so you get some of her accessories.
The rest of the day you both enjoyed the rides even with the long lines.
~Just for fun~
-Your love for Paris started at age 4 after our fun mother and daughter trip to Germany and France in 2010.
Day 3 – Last Day at Kalahari.

Day 2 at the Kalahari.
Dana had meetings all day but the kids and I had a great time with all the Resort’s activities.
This year we tagged along to Dana’s conference at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells. It was a perfect get away from the snow and cold.
We make the trek to Red Wing to visit my parents for the day. The kids sure enjoyed getting pulled on the sled.
The kids did not want to leave our hotel in Green Bay. I guess we should have left earlier because our typical 3 1/2 hour trip turned into a 7 hour trip because of a snow storm!
Today we picked up Emma and Kenny early from school and headed to Mall of America to celebrate Levi H.’s birthday and to say goodbye to his sweet family who are leaving to go back to China. We met them in China back in March of 2007 and have had such a special bond ever since. Check out some of the cutest pictures of their daughter Abby and Emma growing up over the last few years. I guess I went a little overboard with all the pictures!
This is Emma and Abby H. at the Beijing Zoo in China March 2007. Abby had just turned 2 and Emma had just turned 1. What cuties!

Abby’s 9th Birthday ~ December 2013
Our first stop was lunch at the American Girl cafe. The rest of the day we all rode rides.
I’m glad we decided to bring just our point and shoot camera and truly just enjoy the day. Happy Birthday my sweet!
Our annual birthday letter to Emma-
We just returned from just a great day at the Mall of America. This year it was just the four of us. We ate at the American Girl Doll Store and then spent the rest of the afternoon riding rides. It was so nice that more than once, you choose to sit with Kenny on a ride and mom and I rode together. You are such a great big sister (though you do have your moments 🙂 ).
This year you have returned to competing in gymnastics. You have done so well and we look forward to how you will develop with you skills. Because of abilities that God has given you, we pray often that you will realize the power that you hold. So many with great skills use their position to gain popularity and become prideful. We pray that you will remain humble and use your position to encourage those around you who are younger and look up to you and to encourage those that might have less ability but are trying their hardest.
Your 8th year of life has really been full of great memories. We are so glad that you are our daughter. We thank God for you daily.
Mom and Dad
Emma had another awesome gymnastic meet this weekend; she got 2nd place all-around!
For the past few years we make the trip to the Mall of America on New Years Day. Emma’s favorite thing is the new American Girl Doll of the Year comes out Jan. 1st. This year she got Isabelle with her Christmas money. Kenny’s favorite is the Lego store. Today he picked out the Gold Mine set.
The kids were up bright and early, so they played games on the computer and let me sleep a little more. After spending the morning at Mt. Rushmore we drove the rest of the way to Colorado.
Can’t you tell my kids LOVE taking pictures?
For Spring Break this year we decided to drive to Colorado and visit my parents. But because of a snow storm we decided the night before to stay north and go to Mt. Rushmore on our way. Our trip definitely started out slow. I think we stopped about every 45 minutes. Here are a couple of our stops along the way. We drove into town to see this Corn Palace but by the time we got there it was closed! We eventually made it to Wall, South Dakota where we spent the night.
While Dana spent the day in meetings we went to the indoor amusement park and did some swimming.
Dana had a conference in the Dells so of course we tagged along:-) Me pass up a trip – ha!
